Review: Stellarlands
Invasion is imminent! Hostile forces have overtaken a remote moon and are in the midst of uncovering a secret base that holds the key to a delicate intergalactic alliance. It is up to Anvil Liza to thwart the enemy’s plans and in the process maintain balance in the universe...
Anvil Liza - real name Daffney - is a superhuman special operative sent on a covert mission to the snowy moon of the planet Apolaki. There she must retrieve some vital intel from an abandoned base before enemy forces - the Pelothraxils - get their three-fingered alien mits on it.
She is supremely qualified for the job, being able to fly through space without the need of a vehicle of any kind - but not quite perfect. Blurred vision, crash landings, blackouts... she has her own brand of kryptonite; a hidden addiction that threatens to derail her efforts, despite her best intentions. Can she fight a war with two fronts simultaneously?
Stellarlands by writer Max Ferrada and artist Ben Worrell takes us into the heart of a complex intergalactic conflict where subterfuge and confusion are widespread and nothing is what it first appears to be. The action is delivered with polished style as the reader is carried from one exotic locale to the next, encountering an array of bizarre extraterrestrial characters.
Our heroine plummets onto the blizzard-strewn moon and faces fearsome alien warriors, a giant space octopus and a pair of blue-skinned child soldiers left behind from a previous war. As events unfold it seems that the galaxy is full of mysteries waiting to be uncovered.
Will she survive long enough to solve them? Or will she fall prey to the many dangers that surround her... including her own deeply flawed nature?
